The 2021 Hurricane Season Could Bring At Least 4 Major Hurricanes

After a very active season last year, the 2021 hurricane season may be the most active season in recorded history. Weather experts predict this season will have 17 storms, 8 hurricanes, and 4 major storms. This is the 6th consecutive above-average hurricane season we will face. Florida has been lucky with the most recent storm seasons. Nonetheless, part of the Florida Panhandle area did suffer last year.

What are the chances that your neighborhood will face a major hurricane? Experts would say, very high. If there is something we can all learn from previous seasons is to be prepared for the unexpected. Act now before the next major storm hits your neighborhood. A hurricane can change its course in as little as 48 hours. That may not be enough time to keep your loved ones and your home from harm.

Although the pandemic’s impact has improved in the US, you should still consider Covid-19 as a variable in your preparations. Follow the CDC guidelines and stay on top of the news for any developments that may affect you or your family.

As always, we encourage South Florida residents to start their preparations early. Keep in mind that if you want to get the supplies and equipment you need for the storm, you better start now.

  • Upgrade your Home Windows: Replace any windows that are cracked, broken, leaking, or over 10 years old with Category 5 Rated Hurricane Impact Windows from Storm Tight Windows. Hurricane preparation begins with proper window protection.
  • Purchase Emergency Supplies: Stock up to non-perishable goods and plenty of water for everyone living in your household. We recommend you start shopping for these products as soon as possible.
    • Do not forget to purchase
    • First-aid kit and include any prescription medications.
    • Personal hygiene and sanitation
    • Flashlights (with extra batteries)
    • Lighter and matches
    • Pet supplies (if applicable)
    • Cooler and ice packs
  • Identify Flood areas prior to any storm. If you live in an easily flooded area, keep a few sandbags at home to prevent water from coming inside your home.
  • Prepare to Evacuate: Never underestimate the power of mother nature. Please follow all evacuation orders from your local authorities.
    • Also, be ready to travel with face masks, gloves, and your personal hand-soap.
  • If you live in a mandatory evacuation area, please be sure to research the following prior to traveling:
    • Covid_19 testing and vaccination sites around the area you plan to travel.
    • Identify local supermarkets and pharmacies in route
    • Gas stations
    • Rest areas
  • Stay on top of the latest weather developments by watching the latest news and weather reports.

"They Always Say A Hurricane Is Coming, But Then Nothing Happens"...

2021 Hurricane season is on the horizon folks. This is a reality no one can escape. Regardless of last year's hurricane season, no one can guarantee South Florida would not get hit by a strong hurricane this summer.

Floridians often believe “it will not happen to us” or, “the storm will turn around last minute, don’t worry”. The reality is, mother nature is unpredictable. And our best defense is to prepare. Hurricanes will not wait for anyone to be ready for them.
